Case of the Mondays

It's Monday morning and I'm sitting in my office. Just the mere fact that it is Monday morning apparently gives anyone and everyone that I speak to the right to be in a shitty mood. And not to mention, October 8th will be a trying day, as it is my mother's birthday. I am completely not in the mood for anyone's nonsense today.

However, you always find that one person who takes the four seconds out of their day to simply ask, "How are you?". Today, that person was a customer service rep for the company I work for. I'm not sure she realized the power behind her words, but they brought me out of an irate "I hate everyone" mentality, and back to reality. I don't know who this woman is, and I don't know for sure, but I feel safe to assume she has her own issues, with her kids or her job or her husband or something. I think it is safe to assume that everyone has their own issues, so why do we all always dump our crap on other people and not even think to offer a simple "How are you?".

You know those commercials for the starving kids "..For a cup of coffee a day you can send this poor child to school"? Okay well take that concept and apply it to your own life. Everyday, just try asking whoever makes your coffee, the tollbooth collector, the post man, "How are you?". You have no idea what their life is like that day and that little question could make all the difference in the world. Oh, also, I'm also not saying that the starving kids aren't important, when you're done reading this go find your coin jar and send some kid to Oxford :)
